Elizabeth Guertal, Ph.D.
Beth Guertal, Ph.D., is the Rowe Professor of Soil Fertility in the Department of Crop, Soil and Environmental Sciences at Auburn University in Auburn, Ala. She earned her bachelors and masters degrees from The Ohio State University and her Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University. Guertal's research interests and areas of focus include soil fertility, turfgrass management and the flux of fertilizer nutrients in the turfgrass environment. Her university appointment includes 50% teaching and 50% research. Guertal's excellence in the turf industry has been well-documented through numerous awards she has received, including Outstanding Instructor in the Dept. of Agronomy and Soils at Auburn University, the Novartis Award in Agronomy for Outstanding Achievement in Teaching and Research from the American Society of Agronomy and a Fulbright Fellowship from the University of Mauritius. Guertal is a past president of the Crop Science Society of America (2019) and is a 22-year member of GCSAA, teaching seminars and webinars since 2001.
