Austin Wright, CTEM
Austin Wright, CTEM, realized his passion for golf while playing for his high school in Lawrence, Kan. He began his career on the turfgrass side of the industry attending Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kan. where he also worked at Colbert Hills Golf Course. He attended Washburn Institute of Technology in Topeka, Kan. for Automotive Technology and worked at Lawrence Country Club in Lawrence, Kan., as an assistant superintendent. Wright decided to follow his passion and combine both the game of golf and mechanics to pursue the equipment management side of the golf industry. He worked as a service technician for the local Toro distributor in the Kansas City area, then took the equipment manager position at the Country Club of Leawood in Leawood, Kan. In 2016, Wright and his family moved to Rome, Wisc. where he started as the equipment manager building Sand Valley Golf Resort. After opening three courses at Sand Valley, Wright has now taken on more responsibility as the Grounds Complex and Equipment Manager. Most recently, Wright completed GCSAA’s CTEM program becoming the seventh person to achieve the CTEM designation.
